Fortune Profile on Marc Benioff Explores His Values-Driven Leadership and the Company’s Latest Initiatives

Salesforce Chair and CEO Marc Benioff is profiled in a Fortune feature story titled, “Force of Nature: How the Unstoppable Marc Benioff Fueled Salesforce’s Stratospheric Rise.” The story delves into the early rise of Salesforce, Benioff’s enduring dedication to social and environmental causes and philanthropy, and Salesforce’s proposed acquisition of Slack Technologies, Inc.

“Benioff was the first to see the potential for selling subscription-based software on the web and seized the opportunity,” Fortune reports. “He also wants to be a guide to other business leaders. He mentors younger entrepreneurs and says CEOs regularly call him up for advice.”

“He doesn’t take on anything if it’s not big and bold,” the story reports. “That is the driving management creed behind Salesforce, the company he co-founded in 1999 and has been running for 20 years, and which for the past decade has grown revenues faster than any other major software firm.”

Fortune’s profile of Benioff comes on the heels of its announcement this week that Salesforce has jumped up 53 spots on the annual Fortune 500 list of the largest U.S. companies by revenue, with the company ranked at #137.
