Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert Discuss the Ascent of AI, Trust, and Stakeholder Capitalism

Editor’s Note: AI Cloud, Einstein GPT, and other cloud GPT products are now Einstein. For the latest on Salesforce Einstein, go here.

Salesforce Chair & CEO Marc Benioff recently sat down with T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert to talk about why today is arguably the most important time in recent history for technology — calling out the power of generative AI, the importance of trust in approaching new technology, and the role of business in society.

Watch the full video below, where they discuss how:

  • We’re in a significant time of change. The world is smarter, more real time, and automated than ever before, according to Benioff, and generative AI is at the forefront of that transformation.
  • Systems of intelligence are leading the way. Technology is now working with us, not just for us. Smart devices can collaborate with users, making suggestions and predictions – helping us get the job done along the way.
    • “With new technology, we have to think about how to do it safely. Companies need to be in control, or we operate with laws that say we have to have controls, and we have to have safety and security and we have to know facts from not facts,” said Sievert.
  • Trust must be at the heart of today’s technology. As technology gets smarter — and more predictive — companies need to hold themselves and their peers accountable. In this AI world, trust and responsibility are going to be critical guiding values.

The number one word that we’re really focusing on is trust. And I think that what we’re really trying to get down to is that we want to make sure that at a deep level we have trust as our highest value in our company, and that we never give that up.

And I think that what we’re really trying to get down to is that we want to make sure that at a deep level we have trust as our highest value in our company, and that we never give that up. That is the technology that we’re building, but also the relationship that we have with each other. And even the communities that we operate in,” said Benioff.

More on the Salesforce and T-Mobile relationship:

  • T-Mobile has worked with Salesforce since 2008, leveraging technology like Einstein AI to increase productivity, efficiency, and connection with its customers.
  • Using Salesforce Service Cloud and Sales Cloud, T-Mobile sales representatives are able to create orders, confirm approvals, and close deals on the spot, increasing efficiency by 70% and saving them up to seven hours per week.

T-Mobile perspective: “Salesforce is the global leader in its industry partly because of the ability to see around corners from cloud computing to CRM, and to transform the way people interact. We have data from 115 million customers and we’re working with Salesforce to help us create a curated experience for every single one of them,” said Sievert.
