Mr. Gore Goes to Dreamforce: The First Climate Summit's Focus on Sustainability

They say never meet your heroes, but get an account of what it was like for our Sustainability team to host former Vice President Al Gore at Dreamforce's first-ever Climate Summit.

We’re posting a series of vignettes to celebrate Salesforce’s 20th birthday. Follow our digital scrapbook to get a behind the scenes glimpse of our history.

Picture this — you’ve dedicated your life’s work to a specific cause and have the chance to pick the brain of the world’s most renowned leader in your respective space. Your personal idol is speaking a couple feet in front of you, you get to shake their hand, and they thank you for your dedication to the work. Is this real life, or just a fantasy?

This was the moment Salesforce’s Net Zero team met former Vice President, Al Gore at the first-ever Climate Summit at Dreamforce ‘18. Gore was invited to keynote this first-of-its-kind climate-centered day at Dreamforce, which featured sessions highlighting the incredible progress being made by environmental Trailblazers around the world, with speakers Sylvia EarleAdrian Grenier and more. In addition to the Climate Summit, we’re constantly working to integrate sustainability into our event operations, making Dreamforce ‘18 the most sustainable yet.
