Rachel Gillum
author title Vice President, Ethical & Humane Use of TechnologyI'm a policy executive and scholar based in the Bay Area. At Salesforce, I lead the Ethical & Humane Use policy team, focused on developing guidance for responsible use and AI governance. Before this, I advised top corporate leaders as Senior Director at RiceHadleyGatesManuel, and earlier held national security roles in the U.S. government. I earned my MA and PhD from Stanford University, where I’m now an affiliated scholar.
I specialize in AI and tech policy, with a focus on responsible innovation, safety, and risk mitigation. I’ve shaped frameworks for enterprise AI use, advised startups and governments, and served as a Commissioner on the U.S. Chamber’s bipartisan AI Commission. My work spans applied policy, international affairs, and organizational strategy.
I’m usually chasing after my three kids, organizing community events, or off on a family adventure. I love trying new recipes, soaking up the Bay Area sunshine, getting lost in a good novel, and sharing a laugh with friends over brunch.
