Sarah Tan
author title Researcher Principal, SalesforceSarah Tan is the Director of Responsible AI at Salesforce and holds a Visiting Scientist position at Cornell University. She co-founded the Trustworthy ML Initiative and serves as President of Women in Machine Learning (WiML). Sarah earned her PhD in Statistics from Cornell University, with further studies at UC Berkeley and Columbia University.
Sarah earned her PhD in Statistics from Cornell University, with additional studies at UC Berkeley and Columbia. She has a background in public policy in New York City, where she worked with the health department and the public hospital system. She was also a Data Science for Social Good fellow and spent summers at Microsoft Research. Near the end of her PhD, Sarah worked as a visiting student and bioinformatics programmer at UCSF Medical School. Upon completing her degree, she joined Facebook in Core Data Science and later transitioned to the Responsible AI team.
