The growing awareness of climate change is becoming increasingly evident as we experience record-breaking temperatures, unprecedented rainfalls, rising sea levels, rampant wildfires, and devastating storms.

Public sector organizations are at the forefront of efforts to help reduce further climate destabilizations, while ensuring the safety, preparedness, and resiliency of residents.

Hundreds of jurisdictions have developed climate action plans. This spring, 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and numerous Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) submitted Priority Climate Action Plans to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). According to the EPA, over 96% of the U.S. population is now covered by these plans. These organizations are now eligible to compete for $4.6 billion in implementation funding from the EPA's Climate Pollution Reduction Grants program.
