CEO of Salesforce India on the Country’s ‘Once-in-a-Generation Growth Opportunity’

This week, on the World Economic Forum blog, Arundhati Bhattacharya, Chairperson & CEO of Salesforce India, shared why India represents a platform for business growth and opportunity.

Why it matters: India is an important talent and innovation hub for Salesforce’s global business. The company recently expanded its Centre of Excellence in Hyderabad to grow Salesforce’s research and development and customer support programs in the region.

Salesforce perspective: Bhattacharya shared that:

  • Digital transformation is a key pillar for future economic growth: “CEOs across the country tell me, daily, that digital transformation is fundamental to the future success of their companies … Operating in an economy where change is happening so quickly, and where a predominantly younger population wants everything digitally and now, they’ve recognised the choice they must make – stay agile or become irrelevant.”
  • Technology will transform business and help navigate societal changes: “We’re at a watershed moment for technology … If we choose to use AI for the good of humanity, it could transform so many things – like agriculture, education, and health. Thinking about the societal challenges that face a country the size of India’s, that’s a significant opportunity.”

  • India’s talent sets it apart: “Combining a significant talent pool and digitally-motivated population with supportive government policies, strong academic institutions, lower costs of living and doing business, and world-class research and innovation facilities, India has all the ingredients for success.”

Go deeper: Bhattacharya also discussed how Salesforce is helping some of India’s biggest brands with digital transformation solutions to deliver on their long-term growth objectives. For instance, Air India, India’s leading airline, is elevating its customer experience through a combination of AI, data, and CRM.
