Comment on the News
• “This hackathon is going to be awesome,” said Adam Seligman, vice president of developer relations, salesforce.com. “Last year we saw some crazy cool mobile apps, and developers are going to show us even more amazing innovation this time around. With all the prizes, we expect this year’s event to be twice the size and we can’t wait to see what our community comes up with during the Salesforce $1 Million Hackathon.”

Salesforce $1 Million Hackathon Returns
Following on the inaugural Salesforce $1 Million Hackathon in which more than 4,500 developers registered to compete at Dreamforce 2013 for the biggest single hackathon prize ever, the Salesforce Hackathon is back and better than ever.

Salesforce.com is inviting developers to unleash their creativity on the Salesforce1 Platform, the world’s #1 PaaS, at the next Salesforce $1 Million Hackathon. Hacking will take place Oct.10-12, 2014, with a second round of judging on Oct. 14, 2014 and the final awards on Oct. 16, 2014 at Dreamforce in San Francisco.

Salesforce developers are invited to hack mobile apps for their chance to win 35 cash prizes totaling $1 million. Ranging from a $250,000 grand prize to dozens of prizes of $10,000 or more for the best new mobile apps. Categories include Force.com, Heroku and mobile apps that use both services to highlight what is possible.

At Dreamforce, developers can pick a new technology to learn, stay up all night with fellow developers, designers, and entrepreneurs and build an app that rocks. Salesforce.com will supply food, giveaways, and have technical experts on hand. Plus, members of Salesforce Ventures, which just this month announced the $100 million Salesforce1 Fund, will be on hand to offer feedback and coaching on what it takes to propel an app from idea to startup. And who knows, they may find the next great, big idea.

Salesforce Developer Community More Than 1.7 Million Members Strong and Growing
Since launching the next generation of the Salesforce Platform, the demand for mobile apps for employees and customers has fueled the growth of the Salesforce developer community to more than 1.7 million members. Over the last year, the company has traveled the world holding 350 developer workshops, meetups and webinars to accelerate the growth of the developer community.
