In the San Francisco Bay Area, our headquarters and largest presence, the pandemic has increased homelessness by an estimated 25%. Today we are announcing $1.5 million in grants to three organizations combating homelessness in the Bay Area.
- Compass Family Services helps families achieve housing stability, economic self-sufficiency, and wellbeing. This grant will support mental health services and trauma-informed care.
- Catholic Charities provides social services and opportunities for health, growth, and development. This grant will fund housing supports, food security, and programming for youth.
- Homeless Prenatal Program empowers families and mothers to find the confidence they need to thrive. This grant will help provide wraparound services, housing, and health education.
These investments are part of our Child Welfare and Thriving Communities portfolio, which is grounded in the belief that when people’s basic needs are met, they can reach their full potential.
The power of technology and collaboration
Philanthropy is just one part of the equation. We are also using our technology and driving collective action to address the complex challenges of housing and homelessness.
Through our inaugural Impact Labs program, we brought together Bay Area nonprofits, schools, governments, technology partners, and our employee volunteers to co-design a technology solution to tackle homelessness. Representatives from 17 organizations including the City and County of San Francisco, United Way Bay Area, and Compass Family Services collaborated through six months of research and design.
Together, we launched Service Match, an open-source app available for download on the AppExchange, which streamlines the process of making referrals for vital human services. As a result, case managers are able to more efficiently connect those seeking help with the personalized services and support they need.
“I hope the tool we’ve created will be helpful for families and organizations,” said Kendra Froshman, Director of Impact and Learning, Compass Family Services. “I got to explore the power of collaboration through Impact Labs, and I want to continue to find ways to partner with different sectors working on homelessness to think big together.”
Our path to equitable recovery
As we drive toward our vision of a more just and equitable society, we remain committed to partnering with our communities and bringing the full power of Salesforce to address pressing issues in the Bay Area and beyond.
