SAN FRANCISCO – August 7, 2013 – “I’m thrilled to join ProgrammableWeb, and look forward to connecting with the largest community of API developers and consumers on the Web. Having been a developer in the past, I’ve seen the profound ways enterprises have evolved through the use of APIs and I”m excited to be a part of the API momentum that the ProgrammableWeb developer community is driving,” said David Berlind, editor in chief of ProgrammableWeb. “As we enter this next phase of growth for ProgrammableWeb, I”m committed to providing forward thinking, independent editorial content that furthers knowledge about APIs in the developer community and beyond.”
A 20-year media industry veteran, Berlind is an award-winning, content and media innovator and was the chief content officer at UBM TechWeb where he presided over the editorial evolution of brands like InformationWeek, BYTE, Network Computing and the developer-focused Dr. Dobbs. Previously, Berlind was the editor-in-chief at Windows Sources, the editorial director at Computer Shopper, and executive editor at CNET. David was also founder of Mashup Camp, the first conference dedicated to the community of API providers and developers, which was eventually acquired by UBM TechWeb. A skilled public speaker and spokesperson, Berlind has made appearances at many industry conferences and on major media channels including NPR, CNN, the Charlie Rose Show, Fox News and CNBC.
The combined API directories of APIhub and ProgrammableWeb form the world’s largest and most complete repository of APIs. As a standalone business unit within MuleSoft, ProgrammableWeb continues to serve as the leading independent voice in the API community. David Berlind’s presence will continue to enhance the editorial content, furthering knowledge of the importance of APIs within the technology ecosystem.
“We believe APIs are the future of connectivity, and through ProgrammableWeb we are investing heavily in this industry transformation,” said Greg Schott, president and CEO of MuleSoft. “David’s years of experience and developer roots are the perfect combination for the continued success of this publication that has a strong and loyal developer following. He is a fantastic choice to lead ProgrammableWeb as an independent entity, providing developers with the authoritative resource for APIs.”
