We’ve seen incredible progress in deep learning models and applications recently. What seemed impossible just a few years ago is now a reality. Yet, artificial intelligence is still in its early days and there is still a lot of work to be done.
Last year we announced our first-ever Deep Learning Grant and had some incredible submissions that turned into research publications, partnerships and full-time jobs. What more could we want? That is why the Salesforce Research team is thrilled to announce a second round of grant funding for research proposals from around the world.
The team’s goal is to support individuals who extend, use or analyze deep learning methods or can provide fresh perspectives on current research. We encourage people to submit problems or research pertaining to our current research projects but it is not required. The purpose of the grant is to advance the state of the art in AI and create lasting relationships with our grant winners. Bring on the big ideas!
Starting today, permanent faculty members, non-profit organizations, and NGOs from around the world are invited to apply for the grant by October 31, 2019. Applicants should submit a two-page PDF detailing their proposed research and the impact it will have on their respective research community. We encourage you to identify what your research would be enabling, and the proposed outcome should you achieve your vision. Please detail your proposed test case, expected challenges, how you plan to mitigate them and a budget overview. This year our team is especially interested in topics pertaining to AI For Good and DecaNLP. Salesforce will fund up to $50,000 USD, depending on the needs of the project.
