Today, Salesforce announced that GovSlack, a dedicated instance of Slack designed to support key government security standards, has received its Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP®) JAB High authorization. This designation confirms Slack is FedRAMP-authorized and can be configured to support High-impact workloads.
Why it’s important: 77% of U.S. government employees surveyed say that keeping data safe is their priority. FedRAMP promotes the adoption of secure cloud services across the federal government by providing a standardized approach to security and risk assessment for cloud technologies and federal agencies. Slack’s FedRAMP High authorization translates to a more secure experience for public sector agencies and their partners, colleagues, and contractors.
GovSlack helps customers:
- Boost productivity with flexible collaboration. GovSlack breaks down communication silos and gives people the flexibility to do their best work where, when, and how they prefer. It harnesses the power of Slack’s productivity platform to enable employees to stay productive, assemble the right people and tools to deliver on the organization’s mission, and allow teams to move work forward around common goals, projects, and processes.
- Securely connect across organizations with ease. With Slack Connect, GovSlack customers can securely connect with other organizations who use the tool to work as effectively with external partners as they do internally. Slack Connect improves collaboration with agencies, vendors, and contractors in channels and allows organizations to share documents and information securely.
- Operate with security at the forefront. GovSlack is built to support key government security standards and adds additional Slack administrative and security features like guest access, retention policies, single sign-on, Slack Enterprise Key Management (AWS EKM), audit logs, and integrations with top data loss prevention providers. This allows governments to tailor Slack and comply with unique government requirements like the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
The Salesforce perspective: “Slack’s FedRAMP High authorization reflects our continued investment in and support for customers in the U.S. public sector,” said Milena Talavera, SVP, Engineering Infrastructure at Slack. “As more government agencies move to the cloud, they can trust Slack to deliver a secure, enterprise-grade platform that powers team productivity and improves collaboration.”
