Louisville Metro Selects Salesforce to Manage the Vaccinations of its Nearly One Million Residents

The Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness in Louisville, Kentucky, has selected Salesforce as its technology platform for the management and distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations. Louisville Metro’s vaccine management system, built on the FedRAMP-authorized Salesforce Government Cloud and implemented by Salesforce partner Sense Corp, will enable it to manage inventory and logistics, recipient registration, scheduling and outreach, and vaccine outcome monitoring.

The Department of Public Health and Wellness was already using Salesforce technology for manual contact tracing through Kentucky’s statewide public health initiative. And now, it will be using Salesforce’s Vaccine Cloud solutions to help manage the vaccination rollout for its 750,000 residents, beginning with approximately 50,000 frontline and healthcare workers, first responders, teachers, and people over the age of 70.

Deep dive into Louisville Metro’s Vaccine Cloud solution

To register for their vaccination appointment, Louisville Metro residents will be invited to create a profile in its vaccination portal via Experience Cloud. They will then be guided through a series of steps to capture basic information about potential recipients, such as their birthdate, and asked to complete a health screening. Using that basic information in Salesforce’s trusted and secure Health Cloud, public health officials can then determine an individual’s vaccination eligibility.

Once a resident is deemed eligible to receive the vaccine, Louisville Metro will notify them via email using Salesforce Marketing Cloud and they will be prompted to schedule their appointment. When a resident arrives at their vaccination appointment, they will have the option to check in via a QR code on their mobile device, which pulls up their medical information for health officials to review before administering the vaccine. A health official can also log vaccination event information and schedule the resident’s follow-up appointment to receive their second dose within the appropriate timeframe via Field Service Lightning.

Salesforce Shield helps Louisville Metro comply with applicable privacy laws and MuleSoft APIs will facilitate the sharing of data with key state government systems that are being used to manage the Kentucky’s vaccine management effort overall, including its immunization registry and health information exchange. In addition, the Salesforce Platform will help Louisville meet Kentucky’s key goals of fairly and equitably distributing the vaccine and administering 90% of all vaccines received in state within seven days of arrival.

“We are honored for the opportunity to collaborate with Salesforce in supporting Louisville Metro in their efforts to accelerate vaccination distribution to their communities,” said Jimmy Schatte, Sense Corp SVP, Public Sector. “Together, we’ve been able to develop and deliver an effective, easy-to-maintain solution to help Louisville residents begin to recover from this pandemic.”
