Salesforce hosted its third-annual Racial Equality summit, Representation Matters, during the week of September 14. This year’s event was reimagined as a weeklong virtual event featured inspiring and empowering thoughts from Black, Latinx, and Indigenous leaders and influencers. The event, held in conjunction with Deloitte Digital, elevated members of the most underrepresented communities in technology and society, and explored how we all can drive racial equality in our businesses and the world around us.
In our opening video for the week, our Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities shared the importance of representation. Watch the video below:
The event received over 1.2 million viewers and covered topics such as: advocating for voter access, the power of inclusive storytelling, representation in the c-suite, media and so much more. Some of the featured speaker included:
- Filmmaker and founder of ARRAY, Ava DuVernay
- Actress, singer, and activist, Mj Rodriguez
- Writer, Director & Producer Janet Mock
- Bestselling author Tommy Orange
- Actress, artist and entrepreneur Rosario Dawson
We understand there is undeniable power in representation and that there is more work to be done within our own spaces to ensure our companies reflect society. That is part of why at Salesforce, we’ve established the Racial Equality and Justice Taskforce to help drive systemic change in our workplace and community. One of the pillars is People and some of the initiatives we’re taking is by increasing our representation goals, bringing Equality and Recruiting departments together, launching employee advocacy programs, deepening our partnerships with underrepresented minority (URM) professional groups, and more. At Salesforce, we are committed to this journey via our various programs, our Employee Resource Groups, and by practicing allyship. Learn more at Salesforce.com/Equality
