The global pandemic has accelerated the digital transformation of all aspects of our society. As businesses across Europe adapt, our digital future must be built on shared values. Trust and Innovation are two of Salesforce’s core values, and they are also the cornerstone of GAIA-X, a multi-stakeholder effort for the creation of a digital infrastructure for Europe.
It is within this context that Salesforce has chosen to become an early member of GAIA-X, the initiative jointly launched by the French and the German governments in June 2020, to create a cloud-based data ecosystem that promotes both innovation and the highest standards of data protection and security.
As our economies emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, many organizations see the imperative to digitally transform how they do business. In partnership with GAIA-X, trusted digital infrastructure must be at the centre of Europe’s recovery and digital growth.
At Salesforce, trust is our number one value. Our top priority is the security and privacy of the data that our customers entrust us to protect. This commitment is evidenced by our comprehensive and transparent privacy and security program, which includes key third party certifications such as C5 in Germany and ASIP Santé in France.
In 2015, Salesforce was the first enterprise software company to achieve approval from European data protection authorities for our Binding Corporate Rules (BCRs) to facilitate international transfers of European Union (EU) personal data. Our BCRs were amended in 2018 to meet our new commitments with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Salesforce also continues to be an active member in cloud stakeholder working groups established by the European Commission to cover issues such as data protection, data portability, and cybersecurity.
Joining GAIA-X is our latest commitment to working collaboratively with stakeholders in Europe on the development of trusted digital infrastructure. Together, we can promote a digital economy that is inclusive and secure for all.
