In September 2024, Salesforce announced a definitive agreement to acquire Own Company, a leader in data protection and management, trusted by over 7,000 customers. Today, we’re excited to announce that Own’s products are officially part of the Salesforce Platform. Together, we are fortifying data resilience, compliance, and security with powerful new tools.
Safeguarding data is essential for business continuity. With Own’s data resilience solutions on the Salesforce Platform, we’ve made it easier for IT to manage customer data.
Own Recover—ranked the #1 Enterprise SaaS Backup by G2—is now Salesforce Backup & Recover. Salesforce Backup & Recover ensures business users always have accurate, up-to-date data. It's the only solution that provides continuous data protection for Salesforce and the ability to capture and visualize data and metadata changes in real-time. Proactive alerts help teams catch anomalies and accidental deletions before they cause bigger problems. Teams can recover specific subsets of data and metadata down to the minute and field level. This tool can also be used to backup and recover data on ServiceNow and Microsoft Dynamics 365, providing IT with one efficient, centralized data backup solution.
Salesforce Discover leverages historical backups to give teams deeper insights into historical Salesforce data in a secure, time-series format. With on-demand datasets and seamless integration with tools like Tableau, Data Cloud, and Agentforce, teams can easily access all of their historical information. Have you ever wished you could see how opportunity values, CSAT scores, or other mission-critical data changed over time? With Salesforce Discover, that data can be extracted from your backups and be ready whenever you need it. This empowers teams and Agentforce to make better, data-driven decisions.
With over 65 billion records archived to date, Archive streamlines data management by efficiently archiving inactive records at scale, optimizing data storage spend. It boosts org performance by keeping only relevant data readily accessible. Government and industry regulations often have strict data retention policies. With Archive, Admins can easily set automated archival policies and custom retention periods to help you stay compliant. In the event that data needs to be unarchived, it can be done with a single click, improving business continuity and the flexibility to adapt as needs evolve.
Let’s see this in action.
Compliance requirements are often top of mind for production orgs, but they also apply to data in all stages of development. Salesforce’s existing Data Mask gives you the tools to mask data in your development environment.
We've enhanced Data Mask & Seed with new seeding capabilities from Own Accelerate, enabling development teams to quickly generate secure, realistic test data in Sandboxes. Teams can now use datasets from production or other Sandboxes, accelerating development and testing while eliminating the risk of unauthorized data access. Additionally, in Summer '25, we'll introduce dynamic data masking policies within Data Cloud, further strengthening data security.
Let’s check it out.
As AI-driven work expands, data security is more critical than ever. Own Secure is now seamlessly integrated into Salesforce Shield and Security Center, bringing you enhanced monitoring, detection, and protection tools.
Shield 2.0 is a major update to the Shield suite. Now admins have a centralized view of field history tracking–making it easier to audit data changes–and helping teams simplify compliance. Data encryption is also a critical component of any security posture. New with Shield 2.0, you can see which fields are ready for encryption and encrypt only your most sensitive data so you can optimize for both security and performance.
Security Center 2.0 is enhanced to help admins detect issues faster by introducing advanced risk identification and remediation. It’s now easier to enforce least-privileged access policies by viewing permissions for any user across any org. And, streamlined data classification automatically identifies high-risk users so admins can quickly address potential security issues or compliance concerns.
Now let’s see this in practice.
