While the TMF is relatively new and still accepting applications, government agencies have already successfully received funding and implemented solutions to transform citizen experiences.

For example, the Department of Agriculture wanted to improve public-facing digital services for a traditionally underserved group of citizens: farmers. The agency applied for funding from the TMF Board to create a new, user-friendly website where the government could connect with and support farmers. The agency used the funds to create farmers.gov with the help of Salesforce. Here, information and resources relevant to farmers from multiple agencies are compiled in one place — making communication between government and constituents simple and effective.

To modernize a high-priority system, the Department of Housing and the Department of Urban Development collaborated on a TMF proposal aimed at updating an outdated legacy system.TMF funding allowed the two agencies to introduce a new, cloud-based platform that brought internal teams together on one system. As a result, the agencies can work faster and respond to citizen requests and concerns more efficiently.

The Department of Homeland Security has even applied for TMF funding to support four of its projects. The projects cover a number of needs, including improving immigration processes and making getting through security at the airport more secure. According to the Department’s CIO, the agency is using the TMF as a chance to “look at common problems and challenges across the department and set up systems and structures that will allow us to move together.”
