David Gore is a Trailblazer

A New Beginning

When David Gore arrived in Chicago 11 years ago, he was on a quest to reboot his life. After transitioning from the Marine Corps to the classroom, and then to the corporate environment, he found himself starting over in a new city and looking for a new job and community. These major life changes left him feeling lost, but thanks to connections he’d maintained with colleagues over the years, he secured a managerial role overseeing administrative assistants at The Warranty Group (later to be called Assurant, Inc.).

Embracing Salesforce

David’s introduction to Salesforce came unexpectedly. His company needed someone to manage the implementation of Salesforce and support operational success across the organization. Despite having no prior knowledge of Salesforce, David embraced the challenge. He began as a delegated system admin in Service Cloud, learning through a trial-by-fire approach, and quickly found that working with Salesforce resonated with his childhood love for puzzles and building models. This new career path not only provided him with professional fulfillment, but also became a lifeline during a difficult time in his life, offering him a sense of purpose and a new network within the Trailblazer Community.


As David delved deeper into Salesforce, he became more involved with the Salesforce Chicago community, leading to lasting friendships and a robust support network. Over the years, David saw Salesforce evolve significantly, particularly with the launch of Trailhead, Salesforce’s free online learning platform. With a newfound confidence, he took on new projects and initiatives and leaned into the opportunity to learn new skills on Trailhead. David positioned himself to assume a future leadership role within his organization and soon became the lead of a newly created Business Systems admin group. He has been a vocal advocate for Trailhead, recognizing its potential to transform careers and build communities. 

Driving Innovation with the Salesforce Platform

Recently, David’s focus has shifted towards leveraging the AI innovations on the Salesforce Platform. He is currently exploring various AI capabilities, including predictive models for lead and opportunity scoring and conversational insights. Additionally, he's interested in tools that are available with Agentforce, including those that enhance virtual collaboration by summarizing meetings and suggesting next steps. David believes these AI tools can recreate the collaborative atmosphere of in-person meetings, bridging the gap created by remote work and driving innovation within his organization.

Salesforce is ever-evolving, and continually embraces its end users throughout each technological revolution. With the tides shifting towards AI, it’s using tech to unite people and create a better world through its ecosystem.

Leading the Way and Giving Back

Today, David works as the Global Head of the Salesforce Center of Excellence at Assurant, overseeing a Salesforce footprint of 17 instances of Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Industry Cloud, Account Engagement, Marketing Cloud, Quip, and Slack. Outside of this role, he runs an internal user group, guiding others through Trailhead and hands-on learning in the sandbox orgs, and he is actively involved in the Salesblazer Community. His passion project is leading others to success in the Salesforce ecosystem.
